The Brief: Design a totally unique nursery using creative strategies to stimulate children’s self-guided learning.
The Challenge: To ensure the interior design for the nursery is fun and creative, yet safe and practical. And to integrate the client’s teaching method of the Reggio Emilia Approach to promote self-discovery.
The Project: Using various sensory colours and fun designs, we transformed an old Italian farmhouse into a creative, modern pre-school. The interior design for nursery was totally revamped to include wide, open communal areas which flow seamlessly into private spaces.
The nursery is all about children expressing themselves freely, so we selected colours that help expand creativity and other areas that promote calm. Quirky furniture, peepholes in the walls and soft curves were added for a completely hands-on learning experience.
And as per the latest pedagogical theories, we designed a dynamic mystery room, a creative art room, inspirational classrooms and a peaceful sleeping room. All with intricate and creative features.
The result is a space that both the children and teachers adore and an interior design for the nursery that embraces creative, autonomous learning.
