Yoshi Restaurant

Milan, Italy

The Brief: Restaurant interior design for a stylish Japanese eatery.

The Challenge: Transform an unusually narrow and deep space into a functional restaurant.

The Project: The restaurant owners wanted a fresh, trendy look for their Milan-based Japanese eatery. We decided on a dazzling white interior which represents cleanliness, and, importantly, maximises the space.

The restaurant interior design team created different areas within the property giving the illusion of additional space. A bar and small eating area greets diners as they walk in, while a live kitchen is surrounded by a dining bar further back in the restaurant interior. Designing the layout, we had to ensure every space served a purpose while keeping in line with the modern aesthetics. Shelves were set back in the wall and we adopted a streamlined design enhanced by soft lighting. This was highlighted by placing a silk-screened glass in the corridor which diffused the lights and gave the appearance of Japanese paper.

The result was a successful restaurant that oozed style and cleanliness and maximised every pocket of space available.
